HELP!!!!!! I will be in the U.K. and want to see the summer solstice at Stonehenge but my plane leave Gatwick at 1415 hrs (back to Toronto). Is there any tours that will get me back to London in time to make the plane, is it easy to get a cab to Salisbury to catch the train or do I try the National Express, can I get a ride with you, I can’t miss this opportunity.

Oh God, I wanted to do the Solstice too!
I think you can make it because the solstice festival begins before dawn.
This is what I was thinking about doing. I would take the national railway to Bath or Salisbury, rent a car there if a car rental agency is available, then drive to the Stonehenge the night before the solstice with some blankets and snacks, thermos filled with hot chocolate, coffee, etc. Then, after the festival ends in the morning, return the rental car, take the train back to London, and take another train to Gatwick.
If you can’t make it to the airport afterwords, change the ticket! The airline will charge you for making a change but like you said, this is a lifetime opportunity! I wanted to go too but the cost of the airfare is much higher in June than March…
Good luck!!

If the last few years are a guide, access to Stonehenge will be restricted on the solstice. A number of local roads will be closed and restrictions placed on others. There could be increased traffic congestion in the area.
Suggest you contact The Highways Agency or Wiltshire County Council.

OK, first off. Don’t worry. The first step. Why? Because you are going in summer. I used to be a travel agent. A life lesson: Always plan what you WANT TO SEE FIRST! So, if you have reserved all of your other things I guess that we’ll squeeze this in! The problem with Stonehenge tours is that they are more than 3 hours. At the bottom of the page are the links. Your Transportation needs could be found by the second link! Have a great trip! Remember the golden rule of Travel: YOU DON’T SEE EVERYTHING! THAT’S WHY YOU GO BACK!
